SDW Board Meets its Advisor Davinder Daman

The SDW Board members, in a meeting with India’s known playwright Davinder Daman, reviewed its current and future projects. SDW Executive Director Dr. Qaisar Abbas and board members Aftab Siddiqui, Raja Muzaffar, and Ambreen Khan discussed a wide range of issues with the visiting writer, who is also the organization’s International Advisor.

Praising the SDW mission, he suggested fully utilizing the social, print, and broadcast media to publicize its activities and programs. In addition, he said, South Asian countries have a rich cultural heritage that should be fully explored to promote peace and harmony among its citizens.

“There is no better source than the fine arts to bring South Asians together and celebrate their cultural heritage,” he said.  

He told the SDW board members that the performing art should be integrated with its surroundings and always writes with a socio-political issue in mind.

Davinder Daman is a known playwright, theater director, and Bollywood actor visiting Dallas these days to work and finalize several theatrical projects in the United States and Canada. He lives in Chandigarh, India, where he is actively involved in directing and writing street and stage plays. Several of his plays have been published in English and Punjabi languages.
